Pre-K and Kindergarten: Our curriculum is Bible Grade K by Purposeful Design Publications. Students recite 26 memory verses and Psalm 100 during the school year. Kindergarten students also have an additional Bonus Verse each month that goes along with our chapel theme. English/Language Arts: Pre-K: We focus on one letter a week. We use Kinderphonics, Letter People songs, Heidisongs, and poems. We focus on learning sound/symbol relationships through games, songs, and center activities. Students who show an understanding of sounding out words are able to begin reading our kindergarten reading books from Modern Curriculum Press Readers. Students are introduced to two sight words every week through songs and "write, find, build" activities. We use Modern Manuscript for handwriting. Kindergarten: We review the letters and sounds of the alphabet. We work on expanding our phonics knowledge of blending sounds, learning word families, and sight words through songs, phonics activities, and games. We are introduced to five new sight words every week through songs and "color, build, and write" activities. We use Modern Manuscript for handwriting. Our reading program is differentiated so that all students are able to build life-long skills.
